The Role:

Braven is seeking a masterful programmatic operator and facilitator with a demonstrated ability to win over others to join our Lehman College at the City University of New York team as Program Manager – Workforce Strategy (PMW). This role has the opportunity to accelerate Braven’s regional and national impact. The PMW is responsible for supporting 700+ students (fellows) attending Lehman College, who have completed the 3 credit Braven Career and Leadership Accelerator Course, towards strong post-college career outcomes.  

What You’ll Do

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the PMW will own Post-Accelerator Fellow (PAF) strategy and execution to ensure Braven Lehman PAFs are staying engaged with our community, building career skills, landing internships, and tracking towards strong first jobs. In all of this, you will play an instrumental role building and maintaining Braven’s impact in the NYC area and nationally.

PAF Programming & Outcomes

Develop vision, strategy, and tactics to support PAFs in securing internships and strong jobs. 

  • Manage and analyze student-level and program data to drive strategy and support for Braven Lehman PAFs
  • Design and manage job referrals process; source appropriate internship and job opportunities 
  • Manage progress-to-goals tracking/reporting for internships and job attainment
  • Build a strategy and communications plan to connect with PAFs on career accelerating opportunities
  • Manage PAF communications and collaborate with central PAF team on national PAF communication strategies
  • Recruit PAFs for the Professional Mentor program and support success of program
  • Create, plan, and execute events with Employer Partners to promote continued career exploration and skills development
  • Lead annual PAF Jobs Campaign to ensure grads land strong first jobs after college

PAF Coaching

Meet with PAFs 1:1 to provide targeted internship and job application support including resume editing, cover letter writing, job search practice, networking guidance and interview prep.

  • Provide targeted support for high needs PAFs in 1:1 meetings
  • Leverage career assessments to help PAFs identify strengths and skills as needed
  • Develop individual strategy for each PAF (as appropriate) including: edits on cover letters, identifying what roles and industries should be considered in job searches, guiding through job search websites, meeting to prepare for interviews and debrief after interviews

PAF Community Engagement

Build a thriving community and connections among our 700+ PAFs. 

  • Support central bi-annual regional PAF induction event
  • Promote PAF engagement in Braven beyond Accelerator course
  • Identify and recruit PAFs for external events and to be highlighted in Braven’s publications/reports

A+ Team/Management 

  • Participate in individual annual and quarterly planning
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and manage 1 part-time student intern 
  • Contribute to weekly NYC regional weekly tactical and stand up meetings
  • Attend weekly classes as needed to support program (virtual and in-person)
  • Observe weekly classes during first semester in PMW role to internalize Braven curriculum and experience (virtual and in-person)

Brand / Sustainability 

  • Collaborate cross functionally to help build the Braven brand  
  • Represent Braven externally as needed

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Skills:

The ideal person will be extremely driven, customer-service and results-oriented, entrepreneurial and highly resourceful. 

  • 3-4 years of experience with a verifiable track record of achieving student outcomes in college persistence, academic success, and/or career readiness
  • Coaching and mentoring students in career development
  • Proven ability to create, operationalize, and manage project plans, meeting milestones and deadlines
  • Track record of using data and metrics to drive decisions and measure performance
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and cultural competence
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in-person in New York City
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Must be fully vaccinated and have received the Booster vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of such by the date of hire. Exempted individuals will be subject to weekly testing if they engage in any in-person work activities.   

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position, which depends on prior work experience and our assessment of your demonstrated fit for the role, will likely be between $55,700 - $69,600. Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking. You will have an opportunity to discuss salary in more detail after you begin the application process.

When social distancing is not in place, we gather in the office three days a week. Therefore, we require teammates to live within commuting distance of New York City. Each teammate will have two flex days to work remotely.  We believe in the magic, connection, and collaboration that happens when people work together face-to-face and we believe in giving people flexibility to focus, balance personal priorities, and save themselves two commutes per week.
