About the Role

Braven is seeking a masterful programmatic operator and facilitator with a demonstrated ability to win over others to join our Spelman team as Program Manager, Workforce Strategy (PMW). Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the PMW will be responsible for supporting students who have already completed the Accelerator (“Post-Accelerator Fellows” or “PAFs”) in subsequent semesters towards strong post-career outcomes.


To power the program each semester, you will recruit and manage PAF volunteers, Professional Mentors (volunteer working professionals), and part-time student interns, whose numbers will also scale significantly in each subsequent semester.


In addition, you will build excitement, awareness and commitment of the Braven Sophomore Year Experience (Accelerator course) on campus to enroll 500-560 Fellows (students) into the Braven Accelerator course at Spelman College, through inspiring events and activities. In all of this, you will contribute to building and maintaining a positive presence of Braven at Spelman College.

 

What You’ll Do

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the PMW will work extensively with Spelman College faculty and staff, Fellows, PAFs, program alumni, volunteers, employer partners,and local organizations to contribute to the effective growth of Braven. Specifically, you will:


Post-Accelerator Fellow (PAF) Programming & Outcomes - 70%

  • Manage the post-Accelerator experience to ensure all PAFs are on track to secure strong internships and jobs
  • Career coaching  
  • Plan and execute the Professional Mentoring program (recruit PAFs, facilitate training, logistics, etc.)
  • Collaborate with career partners and External Affairs Manager to put on treks and visits to local organizations
  • Manage progress-to-goals tracking/reporting for student internship/job attainment, including monthly dashboard updates and annual Post-Accelerator Fellow (PAF) Survey collection process
  • Design and manage PAF job referrals process
  • Share design input and feedback with Product team
  • Share compelling stories with the External Affairs Team and Executive Director


Student Engagement - 20%

  • Engage during the course to introduce PAF programming to ensure a seamless transition at the conclusion of the course
  • Support sophomores during the course seeking internship and summer opportunities
  • Recruit and manage PAFs to serve as interns and volunteers
  • Share design input and feedback with Braven’s External Affairs team on marketing materials
  • Maintain high engagement with Spelman students, as to ensure attrition is minimized 
  • Collaborate with communications team for marketing materials and social media for Pre- PAF and PAF communities


A+ Team - 10%

  • Participate in individual annual and quarterly planning and all team events
  • Manage overall hiring process for PAF roles on Braven’s team (e.g. part-time student interns)


Qualifications & Skills: The ideal person will be extremely driven, customer-service and results-oriented, entrepreneurial and highly resourceful, and excited to dive into an early-stage organization poised to change the educational landscape.   • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience with a verifiable track record of achieving excellence and successful outcomes; 
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills;
  • Coaching and mentoring students in career development;
  • Experience managing and developing people, particularly managing through others;
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills;
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability, excels in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and is comfortable with ambiguity;
  • Proven ability to create, operationalize, and manage project plans, meeting milestones and deadlines;
  • Data-driven manager: track record of using data and metrics to drive decisions and measure performance;
  • Strong alignment with, passion for, and commitment to the mission and values of Braven;
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in-person in Atlanta, GA
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Must be fully vaccinated and have received the Booster vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of such by the date of hire. Individuals may claim exemption from the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons. Exempted individuals will be subject to weekly testing if they engage in any in-person work activities.


Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position, which depends on prior work experience and our assessment of your demonstrated fit for the role, will likely be between $49,000 - 61,200. Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking. You will have an opportunity to discuss salary in more detail after you begin the application process.

  • A one month paid sabbatical after 4 years on staff


Location

When social distancing is not in place, we gather in the office two to three days a week. Therefore, we require teammates to live within commuting distance of Atlanta. Each teammate will have two flex days to work remotely.  We believe in the magic, connection, and collaboration that happens when people work together face-to-face and we believe in giving people flexibility to focus, balance personal priorities, and save themselves two commutes per week.
