About the Role

You are a strategic project management whiz to the Executive Director. As the External Affairs Manager, you help to manage internal and external communications, heavily support fundraising and employer partnership efforts as well as raise brand awareness of Braven Atlanta.  You will support the Atlanta Region with raising roughly $2 million annually. In this role, you report to the Executive Director and manage 1 part-time intern.

What You’ll Do:

Planning & Execution: 50%

  • Run external affairs back office, including all research, outreach, meeting prep, tracking, and ongoing cultivation of donors, board members, employer council members, and employer partners.
  • Plan and execute all external events such jobs report events, happy hours, site visits, lunch and learns, treks, workshops, etc
  • Work in collaboration with Program Team to set goals for recruitment of volunteers (Mock Interviewers, Professional Mentors, Leadership Coaches) and leads Employer Partner communication on volunteer recruitment

Fundraising Support: 20% 

  • Partner with the central External Affairs team to draft and submit regional grants and reporting
  • Manage the cultivation of a small portfolio of donors and employer partners (those $10k and under)

Brand Building: 10%

  • Support all brand efforts (submitting speaking and award applications, identifying Spelman students for interviews, etc)
  • Support media campaigns, including press and social media 
  • Support internal communications with Braven community (eg. alumni/volunteer) 
  • Collect student success stories to share externally 
  • Attend external events representing Braven 

Board Management: 5% 

  • Support management of Atlanta board and employer council (manage all logistics, draft memo and deck, track next steps, drafting monthly recap for the board)
  • Support monthly communications to the board regarding programmatic and fundraising updates 

Logistics and Operations: 5%

  • Manage office operations (including relationships for office space, regional supply orders, national support) 
  • Use and maintain team systems (tactical dashboard, Asana, Slack, etc)
  • Participate in individual annual and quarterly planning

A+ Team Operations 10%

  • Use and maintain team systems (tactical dashboard, Asana, Slack, etc)
  • Participate in individual annual and quarterly planning
  • Manage 1 intern

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in-person in Atlanta
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be fully vaccinated and have received the Booster vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of such by the date of hire. Exempted individuals will be subject to weekly testing if they engage in any in-person work activities.   

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position, which depends on prior work experience and our assessment of your demonstrated fit for the role, will likely be between $49,000 - $61,200. Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking. You will have an opportunity to discuss salary in more detail after you begin the application process.

When social distancing is not in place, we gather in the office two or three days a week. Therefore, we require teammates to live within commuting distance of one of our hubs: Chicago, New York City, Newark, and Atlanta. Each teammate can use two flex days per week of their choosing to work remotely. We believe in the magic, connection, and collaboration that happens when people work together face-to-face and we believe in giving people flexibility to focus, balance personal priorities, and save themselves two commutes per week.
